(http://audiolines.com)I get all of my dj equipment (http://audiolines.com), studio gear and accessories from them. They have a 24,000 sq. ft. warehouse and have a nice selection of microphones especially. They are located at 5070 N Kimberly Chicago, IL 60630.

Changes are afoot at Skeyelab Music

Changes for the better!!!

My day schedule has been recently opened wide up. This means much faster turn around for all open projects. (all current projects will be completed this week!!)

We are also able to book weekday gigs now. We are seeking theaters, bands, corporate events, etc. Remember, just because we know how to record music, doesnt mean we dont know how to play it as well. Our head engineer, Eric Dahl, spent 3 years as Installation Manager at www.audiolines.com. (http://www.audiolines.com) During this time he was stage manager for the one and only "Purenation" event that featured Bad Boy Bill, Tiesto, Deep Dish, Junkie XL, and others. He also installed the Dynacord Cobra sound system found at Chicago's Spybar.

Needless to say, summer is the time of outdoor concerts, and if you need a PA or sound system, Skeyelab Music can meet all your needs. We bring our same studio quality sound to our PA gigs, and plenty of power so your music is heard, loud and clear.

A great XLR cable storage idea.

So today I was in ACE Hardware’s electrical section and walked past an extension cord reel. This reel was $9.99 and was able to stand on its own, a big plus for my intended use. It was designed to hold 150′ of electrical cord, so I figured that it could hold at least 175′ of XLR cable. Well, I got home tonight and wrapped up some 50′ cords. I am connecting the cables together, end to end, so they can up spool as one strand. I was able to easily wrap up 6 50′ cables. My next move is to buy a few more spools and wrap cables of the same length around each of them. This should prove to be a very easy way of cabling a gig. The spools are also VERY compact. Hope someone else finds this helpful. EDIT (September, 10, 2008): I have decided not to connect them together, but to simply wrap the ends of 2 cables together so that one cable will pull off the spool, rather than continue to unspool the rest. I expect a “Kleenex” type action.
